Birth Doula Service Agreement

Scope of Practice: Your doula provides prenatal information, emotional and physical support throughout your labor, and postpartum support and processing of your birth experience. Your doula can assist you in making decisions by providing you with information and questions to ask, but cannot speak for you or make your choices;  nor does your doula make medical diagnoses or "prescribe" things like herbs, etc. Along those lines, your doula can provide you with resources and research findings if you are interested in learning more. The goal is to keep you in control of your experience and provide you with calm reassurance and many other techniques to help you achieve your goals. Your doula will act in accordance with your birth wishes, in cooperation with the other members of your birth team.

All-Inclusive Fee - $600 : click to view Economics of A Doula's Fee or Fees & Services

We make an effort to limit the number of births we will accept around your due date as well as arrange our personal lives to ensure we will be available. For these reasons, we request a non-refundable minimum deposit of $300 at the time of hire (2nd visit). The balance is to be paid 2 weeks prior to your due date. The fee is the same regardless of the length of your birth.

In the unlikely event that your primary doula would be unable to attend your birth and a backup doula is called, the fee would remain the same and be worked out between the doulas.

If you are without a doula through fault of our own, the non-deposit portion of our fee will be refunded. Scheduled or emergency Cesareans, precipitous (too fast) birth, or lack of notification would not qualify for fee refund.

Contacting your doula in labor: Two weeks before your due date, we "officially" go on call for you, meaning your doula will have her cell phone with her at all times.  Of course, before this, you may contact us at any time and leave a message to be returned by your doula as soon as possible.  We ask that you let your doula know when you begin to show signs of pre-labor so that she may prepare for the coming days. She will remain in close phone/email contact until you decide you would like her to be with you.

Please try to allow about 1.5 hours for your doula to arrive in labor, unless we have agreed on an alternative time frame.

*If there are special circumstances that require an adaptation of our service agreement (extended on-call period for us due to pregnancy complications, etc.) please discuss these with your doula so changes can be communicated clearly and reflected in our written agreement.

We truly look forward to working with you and are honored that you’ve considered us to be a part of your family’s sacred birth experience.
