“I believe the birth of a baby is a sacred event, a moment that will be remembered forever. It can be a monumental occasion for the whole family, a defining experience in a mother’s life, and a beautiful story to tell her little one about their journey into her arms.
As I experienced first-hand during the birth of my daughter, a doula can be like the moon for an expectant couple, shedding light on paths often filled with twists and turns. Providing timely information, suggestions and encouragement-- one of my strengths is the ability to wax and wane, quietly anticipating needs and fading into the background when not needed.
As your doula, my goal is to help you create the birth experience that you want. I will take the time to get to know you, your partner, and learn your preferences during prenatal planning visits to be ready to fully support you when the time comes. During your birth, I’ll be the calm voice reminding you of powerful relaxation and comfort techniques, suggesting positioning ideas, reminding you of your strength, and helping you and your partner stay focused and relaxed. I will stay for the first couple of hours after your baby is born to assist with breastfeeding and take photos if you’d like, so you can focus on connecting as a family. In the comfort of your own home, I’ll follow up with additional postpartum support, at your convenience.
Whether you are becoming parents for the first or fifth time, a doula can light your way to a beautiful birth, and I would be honored to be considered as a potential addition to your birth team." -Angie
When I first heard of a Doula, I immediately knew that was someone I wanted to be a part of my pregnancy and birth. I am a big believer that the more informed I am, the more relaxed I am.
I met a few doulas before I found Angie and knew she was the perfect fit for my husband and I. Angie is not only a sweet, caring person who you feel like you’ve known your whole life, she is extremely knowledgeable.
I arrived at the hospital on a Monday at 4:30 am, we got the word I would be admitted and Angie was there shortly after. I ended up having our baby at 12:41 am Tuesday morning and Angie was there the entire time! She helped guide me into different positions and environments to help labor progress and always seemed to know the right things to say to guide me through the contractions. She provided a beautiful, peaceful environment with frameless candles, aromatherapy and ambient music. Angie was also an incredible support for my husband and between the two of them, they provided counter pressure for 12 hours straight. It seemed to be the only thing to take the edge off.
My plan was to have a medication free birth but after having prodromal labor for 3 days and consistent back-to-back contractions for another 18 hours my body was exhausted and only dilated one more centimeter 12 hours after being admitted into the hospital. At this time I decided to get an epidural and Angie was the best at making sure I knew all of my options before I made that decision, which made me feel confident. I had a slight fear of the intervention cascade that could come after a long labor and an epidural but Angie reassured me that everything was going as it should.
My delivery was extremely peaceful and calm, unlike everything I have ever seen in the movies. Angie worked great with my husband and the nursing staff to make sure my wishes after the delivery were met and also guided me through the breast crawl technique and my daughters first latch. She was also able to capture some amazing pictures and videos of our birth experience (at our request).
I can’t imagine the experience without Angie and I am so grateful to have found her.
Angie also encapsulated my placenta for me and had it back to me by the time I was home from the hospital in a cute little package. It was perfect!

"We both were so happy that Angie was a part of Penny’s birth, and we're very impressed with her level of commitment and professionalism. Doing things like holding my hand, offering massage, acupressure, telling me how great I was doing and how strong I was really helped me. Her guiding me to 'breathe in peace, and breathe out tension', along with suggesting new labor positions and offering food/drink also really helped. I felt like Angie really advocated for me and my labor by asking the staff about possible less invasive interventions (such as nipple stimulation with a breast pump), even though we didn't always use the intervention proposed.
Discussing breastfeeding at our prenatal doula appointments was also really helpful . As was the simple breastfeeding tip sheet Angie made and provided to us.
I also want to mention how absolutely wonderful it was to read Penny's birth story. I LOVE that Angie took the time to take notes during the labor and put together the story for us (and her). The story is something I know I'll treasure forever and I can't wait to share it with Penny some day! Thanks again for everything you've done for us!"
