“I believe that every woman should be informed, empowered, and respected in her pregnancy and labor. My passion is educating women about the choices available in maintaining a safe and healthy pregnancy and labor. I hope to empower your family and build confidence in your own ability to make the right choices for you. I aim to help you do this by maintaining a supportive environment physically and emotionally.
Even as a very young child I looked forward to the day that I would someday become a Mom. My road to becoming a mom was a bumpy one and it was the support of my midwives, birthing assistants and the other amazing mothers surrounding me that got me through. After the birth of my first son, I knew that I wanted to be a doula and be that support for other women. It is an absolute honor to be a part of your story." -Tara
“Supportive, knowledgeable, and caring! Tara was there for us and was able to anticipate needs. Tara was wonderful through the end of our pregnancy, delivery and after! She was very flexible about times and places to meet prior to delivery, and was willing to personalize our birth experience. The day of our birth, she was excellent support, very helpful in controlling pain during contractions, and knowing ahead of time what I'd need. Will definitely seek her help with future pregnancies and deliveries!" - Erin
"We were looking for some support for the birth of our first baby. We wanted to shoot for a natural birth and realized our chances without someone to help were going to be small, as I was very nervous about it. We live alone in Madison and have no family support. Tara was, by far, the most prepared doula we interviewed and we liked that. She ended up being a fantastic choice and we were so happy we had her with us. She was able to educate and prepare us for what to expect, but also let us run the show at the same time. She worked with us instead of trying to tell us what to do. During the birth she helped get us through everything with minimal interventions and I don't know how we could have done it without her. She was always easy to get a hold of and professional, yet caring and friendly. We are sad we no longer live in Madison and most likely won't get to use her services again because we absolutely want to! "- Amy
"My husband was originally hesitant to have a doula be a part of our pregnancy, labor and delivery journey, but after meeting Tara any hesitation was gone! She was so knowledgeable, never pressed any of her own beliefs or opinions on us and always made sure we were informed and educated before we made any final decisions.
Through my labor, though 27 hours, she was there every second, minute, and hour rubbing my back through contractions, reminding me to breathe, being my advocate for my birth plan, giving my husband rest, relaxing any tensions, assisting in natural pain relief and always keeping my family informed.
She was more than just a shoulder to lean on (although literally she was), but one of the best birth coaches we could’ve ever asked to have been on our team. Thank you Tara for all your hard work! You are simply amazing." - Aimee
"Tara was amazing! I started out terrified of the whole birthing process and sure that I wanted every drug possible. Tara non-judgmentally helped me to feel equipped to make birthing decisions based on what I actually wanted instead of based on fear. Because of her pre-education, support, and pain management during labor, I was able to give birth without using any drugs, which I never thought would have been possible. I had some pretty intense back labor and Tara applied counter pressure for hours. She knew when to be comforting and when to kick me into gear. I would highly recommend her to anyone, no matter what their birth preferences are. " - Kristi
